Blog Design//Study on Style

I recently had the lovely pleasure of designing my good friend Sara's blog Study on Style. She recently ditched her old blog for something new and fresh (which I completely understand doing!). After struggling with the design of her new blog, I offered my services. I had a laugh when she gave me three requirements:

1. Pink
2. Glitter
3. ...more Pink

Here is the mood board I came up with:

and of course, here is the final design...

want a killer design too? contact me here.

Fashion Night Out with Belk and Jones New York

Fashion Night Out is one of the largest Fashion events this week (other than Fashion Week, of course). It is the one day where stores across the country come together and celebrate fashion all in one night! I had the lovely pleasure of attending a Fashion Night Out event here in Raleigh. Last night I hit up the Jones New York fall preview event at Belk! Take a look at all of the fun!

In addition to sitting front row with the lovely Brooke and Mia, we snacked on cookies, cupcakes, and goodies from Dylan's Candy Bar. Glamour provided us with the latest issue and -of course- there was champagne!

Thanks Belk!

Nail Files: Gold Tips

I am pretty much a nervous wreck. I have never done a nail post before and I now can sympathize with the people who do them all the freakin time. They are not easy so please, bare with me as I struggle through my first. Oh, and yes, I do have the chubbiest hands/fingers in the entire continental US.

I painted with O.P.I's Black Cherry Chutney (a personal winter favorite!) and Essie's Good as Gold

Bye, Bye Miss American Pie

I think it is time to accept the fact that summer is over. Now, technically it isn't over until September 22nd, but who are we kidding? School is back in session, its getting darker earlier, and most of all, it is starting to cool down (thank god!). I'm not incredibly bummed that summer is over, mainly because Fall is my favorite season. I have a couple of reasons why:

1. My birthday is in October (only 1 month away- YES!)
2. Fall leaves
3. The amazing temperature (usually in the 70's here in NC)
4. Scarves (self-explanatory)

and lastly....

5. Apple Pie

This is a recipe that I found forever ago. I love how you bake the pie inside the apples. Super cute, super easy, and everyone has their own mini-pie!

1. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate.

5. Wash approximately 5 apples.
6. Cup the tops off of the apples and hollow them out. Chop the insides up and place in bowl. Take the tops of the apples and peel them. Chop up the rest of the top and place into bowl with the rest of the chopped apple.
7. Add the followed ingredients per apple to the bowl:
  1. 1 tbsp sugar
  2. 1/2 tbsp all purpose flour
  3. 1/4 tsp powdered cinnamon
Mix well.

8. Fill the hollow apples with the apple mixture
9. Take the pie crust dough out of the fridge and roll out. Use a circular cookie cutter or glass to cut the dough. Take a straw and poke holes into the center for ventilation while baking.
10. Place dough on top of the apple. Bake at 370 degrees for 40 minutes.

TIME FOR A CHANGE.

It has been almost a year since I started blogging over at Feathers + Futons. Some people think that you can't change that much in one year. Well, I did. When I started F+F I wanted a creative fashion outlet. Now I want a creative design, photography, and whatever else I want to do outlet. Hence the formation of a new blog: Jennie called Jane.

I know, it is a weird name. But let me hash it out for you. I have two grandmothers. One is Jennifer. The other is Jane. They mean the world to me. Now let's talk about this 'called' thing. Did Jennifer call Jane? Yes, and no. They talked all the time, but that's not where I got it.

Jane, my grandmother, was Polish. No one could pronounce her name so they called her many names: Jennifer, Jennie, Jane, ......Catherine. When she was old enough she legally changed it to Jane, but some people still called her Jennie.

So...... Jennie called Jane.

oh my bad. that is george. my freakin' adorable puppy.
